The fifth cohort of New Architecture Writers is interested in writing as a collaborative act. Our collective project is a zine of collaboratively written experiments that create a dialogue between cohort members as texts are passed on and translated.
Each fragment revives a fragment of a brief from the N.A.W. programme, from a news article to a guided tour. These texts are each assigned a rule to choreograph the collective exercise and unfold as a series of ‘exquisite corpses’. Through this process, texts are not only resurrected but transformed, generating new layers of meaning.
This event, held at the House of Annetta, will launch the limited-edition zine through an evening of performances and readings of our writing experiments. It will culminate in an exquisite corpse workshop in which all in attendance are invited to participate.
The design of the zine reflects this palimpsest of voices, a material testimony to our growth as design writers over the course of the programme. We reflect on a year of learning, including our week-long residency and Carnival event at the Venice Architecture Biennale in July this year.
- Rule 1: You are summoned to follow our rules of resurrection
- Rule 2: Should you choose to attend, you will contribute to the most exquisite of corpses
- Rule 3: Be ready to feast on a menu of stories
- Rule 4: Wander through performances unfolding in neglected corners of the House
